2021 Upscale Sale features thousands of donated items

The Spokane Symphony Associates' 2021 Upscale Sale is a gigantic estate sale that this year fills 40,000-square-feet of retail space between June 3 and June 12 at the former Toys R Us, 6104 N. Division St. in Spokane.

Upscale Sale and Christmas Tree Elegance raised $450,000 for the Spokane Symphony Associates to donate to the Spokane Symphony 2019. COVID-19 eliminated both events in 2020 but donations continued to come in for the sale over two and a half years until eight storage units were filled. These donated treasures include 1,000 pieces of costume jewelry, goblets and crystal, china sets, oriental items, remarkable kitchen items, holiday and home decor, furniture, rugs, designer clothes and handbags, plus much more.

On Thursday, June 3, for $5 shoppers can attend the First Choice Sale from 3-7pm to get first choice of all best merchandise. The sale will continue from 9am-6pm Friday & Saturday, June 4 and 5; 10am-5pm on Sunday, June 6; and 9am-6pm, Wednesday through Saturday, June 9-12.

The Life and Work of John James Audubon on exhibit now at the MAC

The Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture's new exhibit celebrates the life and work of John James Audubon, whose iconic depictions of the bird species of North America, shown in their natural habitats, are the most famous ornithological works ever created. The exhibit is featured at the MAC through September 19. Also going on now at the MAC is Justin Gibbens: Birds and Beasts, showcasing the works of this Thorp, WA artist's zoological watercolor drawings. And this weekend is your last chance to view Bomber Boys: Portraits From the Front, which features and engaging combination of portraits and personal stories reproduced from a secret stash of World War II images, ephemera, and a diary from 1945.
