NW BachFest Summer Classics Tour begins this Sunday



The Annual Northwest BachFest presented by Connoisseur Concerts will have its Summer Classics Tour with concerts in Spokane, Coeur d'Alene and Sandpoint, this Sunday, August 26-Wednesday, August 29. Cello-Bration! Cello Quartet with Artistic Director and 2017 Grammy Award-Winning Cellist Zuill Bailey with Dr. Melissa Kraut from the Cleveland Institute of Music and young stars of cello, Cicely Parnas and Jared Blajian.

Three performances:
Sunday, August 26: 3pm concert at Barrister Winery, 1213 W. Railroad Avenue, Spokane
Monday, August 27: 7pm Concert at Hagadone Event Center, 904 Floating Green Drive, Coeur d'Alene
Wednesday, August 29: 7pm concert at Heartwood Center, 615 Oak Street, Sandpoint

Venue Change: Spokane Symphony's Soiree On The Edge tonight at the Fox

The Spokane Symphony has announced that the outdoor Soiree on the Edge concert at Arbor Crest Wine Cellars, scheduled for tonight, August 22 at 7pm, will be moved inside Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox due to unhealthy air quality. Doors open at 6pm.

Resident Conductor Morihiko Nakahara has planned an exciting program that blends old and new works for chamber orchestra. Selections include Timo Andres (Word of Mouth), Gabriel Kahane (Freight and Salvage) and Sarah Kirkland Snider (Daughter of the Waves). The second half of the concert will feature Bizet's Symphony in C.

A variety of Arbor Crest Wine Cellars wines will be sold at the theater tonight, along with snacks at the concession stand. Concertgoers are encouraged to dine before the concert. Outside food is not permitted in Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox.

Annual Art & Glass Fest at Arbor Crest this weekend



This Saturday & Sunday, August 25 & 26, is Arbor Crest's Annual Art & Glass Fest, which features over 50 artists vendors, plus wine by the glass, flight or bottle, and beer from Square Wheel Brewing. Admission is free. Live music with One Street Over on Saturday from 1-5pm, no cover. Art & Glass Fest runs from 11am-6pm both days.

Also at Arbor Crest this week:
Thursday, August 23, the Martini Brothers perform their blend of popular rock-cover dance tunes from Van Morrison, Tom Petty, Jimmy Buffet and more, at the Tasting Room Stage, from 5:30-7:30. $5 cover charge. Jewelry design by Bobbie van Loben Sels will be on display.

On Sunday, August 26, Nu Jack City will play a variety of music styles, from Motown, Soul and Classic Rock to Blues, Disco and R&B. Concert takes place at the Cliff House stage, and runs from 5:30-8pm, $10 cover charge.

'Legally Blonde' at CdA Summer Theater ends Aug 26



'Legally Blonde,' The Musical is at Coeur d'Alene's Kroc Center Auditorium ends this Sunday, August 26. You still have a chance to see this award-winning show, presented by Coeur d'Alene Summer Theater. Show times this week are Thursday through Saturday at 7:30pm and the final performance Sunday at 2pm.

TheaterFest this Sunday at the Fox



Spokane Arts has announced TheaterFest, a new event to preview the 2018-19 performing arts season in Spokane. TheaterFest will be a free, one-afternoon celebration of performing arts held at Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox this Sunday, August 26 from 1-4pm.

Organized by Spokane Arts, and presented in partnership with local performing arts organizations and theaters, community members of all ages are invited to experience short showcases of theater, opera, dance, music and interactive activities, as well as tours of the historic Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox. The stage will feature a variety of performances, each lasting 15-20 minutes, that will preview an upcoming event during the upcoming season. They include:

Spokane Civic Theatre's musical, 'Mary Poppins'
Spokane Ballet School previewing excerpts from 'The Nutcracker Ballet'
Inland Northwest Opera will offer selections from Mozart's 'The Marriage of Figaro'
The Spokane String Quartet performing chamber works from the Chamber Soiree Series

Other activities will happen in the lobby of The Fox, including an Instrument Petting Zoo, opportunities to practice vocal exercises with an opera singer, take photos with the ballerinas, and more.

Peter Rivera with Sidestep performs at Centennial Hotel this Saturday



Come celebrate 'another day of living' in a free concert with Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, Peter Rivera with Sidestep, this Saturday, August 25 from 6-9pm at the Centennial Hotel (formerly RL at the Park). Friday, August 24 from 6-9 it's the MasterClass Big Band R&B Revue. Enjoy food and drink, table seating and dancing.

Last weekend for DeLeon Foods Hatch Chile Roast at Valley store



De Leon Foods' Annual Hatch Chile Roast, celebrating the famous chile pepper named after the area that made it famous, New Mexico's Hatch Valley, continues this Saturday and Sunday, August 25 & 26 from 10am-5pm each day in the parking lot of the Spokane Valley store, 15530 E. Sprague. Hatch peppers are only sold at De Leon's once a year, in dishes like Hatch tamales, pork with Hatch peppers and Hatch salsa.
