A Free performance of 'Thurgood,' at GU School of Law Thurs Feb 8

In honor of the 50th anniversary of the appointment of Thurgood Marshall to the Supreme Court of the United States, a Free performance of 'THURGOOD' will be held this Thursday, February 8, 6pm at the Gonzaga University School of Law in the Barbieri Moot Courtroom.

George Stevens Jr.'s award winning, one-man play is brought to the stage in this production starring Dr. Timothy Golden. It tells the amazing true story of former Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall. Told in the first person, the play revisits flashpoints in Marshall's life: from his childhood in Baltimore, to law school, his rise to the Supreme Court, and his role in the civil rights movement. Poignant and inspirational, the award winning Broadway play has previously been adapted into an HBO special.

The goal of bringing this dynamic performance to Spokane is not only to share the history of this great leader with our community but to invite future discussion addressing race matters in our current national climate, and identify how we can follow in the footsteps of the great icons like Thurgood Marshall to advance racial equity in our organizations and in our community.
