KXLY TV's Mark Peterson & Winter Glow Spectacular give Children's Hospital patients a holiday gift



Mark Peterson and the KXLY Extreme Team, along with Spokane's Winter Glow Spectacular have come together to make the holidays a bit more magical for kids at Sacred Heart Children's Hospital, and for all of Spokane. Cowley Park, located at 7th and Division, just below the Children's Hospital, has become 'Christmas Park'. The Extreme Team has decorated high up in the trees and Winter Glow has set up dozens of displays throughout the park grounds, complete with animation and music. It's all free and it's walkable to driveable around the perimeter.

Bing Crosby Holiday Film Festival Dec 9



The 12th Annual Bing Crosby Holiday Film Festival, presented by Bing Crosby Advocates, takes place this Saturday, December 9 and features some of the best loved films of Spokane's own Bing Crosby, along with a gallery of photos of the famous entertainer and a special live musical performance by Howard Crosby (son of Bing Crosby's brother Ted) and Spokane's own Hot Club of Spokane, featuring music from the Crosby era.

The non-profit Bing Crosby Advocates (BCA) presents the festival at the Bing Crosby Theater at Sprague and Lincoln in downtown Spokane each December as part of the community's celebration of the holiday season. It was at this theater, then known as the Clemmer, that a young Bing Crosby began his career by performing skits in between the silent films shown there. The theater was renamed for him in 2006.

10:30am - White Christmas
1:00pm - Riding High
3:30pm - Holiday Inn
6:00pm - Live music by Howard Crosby and Hot Club of Spokane
8:00pm - White Christmas

Tickets for the festival are $10 each and are good for the entire day's events. Tickets are available at the door only (no advance sales) and must be purchased by check or cash (no credit/debit cards). Children age 12 and under will be admitted free.

Small Artworks Invitational Show at the Art Spirit Gallery this month



It's the Art Spirit Gallery's 19th annual Small Artworks Invitational show, going on now through January 6. There's an artist reception this Friday, December 8 from 5-8pm at the gallery, 415 Sherman in downtown Coeur d'Alene. See over 200 new works and meet 30 artists.

The Music of Star Wars with the Spokane Symphony coming Feb 2018

The Spokane Symphony will present 'The Music of Star Wars: The Symphony Awakens' with two concerts on February 17, 2018 at 2pm and 8pm. Resident Conductor Morihiko Nakahara will lead these two identical concerts, featuring selections by award-winning composer John Williams from the legendary 'Star Wars' film series scores, including 'The Force Awakens' and 'Rogue One.'

Pre-concert activities start 90 minutes before each concert at Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox, and will include memorable photo opportunities with 'Star Wars' characters, drink specials from the Mos Eisley Cantina, and planet-themed activities. Concertgoers are encouraged to wear 'Star Wars'-themed costumes.

Stars on Ice returns to Spokane May 2018

2018 Stars on Ice tour visits the Spokane Arena on Friday, May 18, 2018. U.S. medal hopefuls Nathan Chen and Ashley Wagner will highlight the tour along with two-time Ice Dance National Champions and three-time World medalists Maia & Alex Shibutani.

Chen, the first skater to land five different quadruple jumps in a single competition program, will be a key member of an immensely talented U.S. Figure Skating Team looking to grab Gold at the Winter Olympics.

Christmas Tree Elegance continues

Twelve decorated Christmas trees surrounded by gifts will be on display in the Mezzanine of The Historic Davenport thru this Saturday, December 9. $1 raffle tickets are sold 10am to 9pm daily. Ticket sales end Saturday, December 9 at 9pm, with drawing to follow.

Six additional trees and gifts are located on the second floor of River Park Square and will be on display until Sunday, December 10. Viewing is daily from 10am until mall closing. $1 raffle tickets sold during mall hours. Sales end Sunday, December 10 at 4pm, with drawing to follow.

Traditions of Christmas begins Dec 8



Traditions of Christmas is a Christmas spectacular covering the greatest Christmas songs and traditions from around the world, complete with Kickline, USO Military Tribute, Santa and a fully staged living nativity. It's this Friday, December 8 through Saturday, December 23 at Coeur d'Alene's Kroc Center.
