The Spokane Symphony Orchestra, with Eckart Preu conducting, and Members of the Spokane Tribe of Indians invite the community to attend 'Spring Celebration,' a free concert on Friday, May 13 at 6pm in Wellpinit. The event will be held at the Antoine Andrews Memorial Hall on the Spokane Tribal Pow-Wow grounds, located at the intersection of Ford-Wellpinit Road and Sherwood Loop Road, one mile East of Wellpinit's town center.

The performance begins with a student play, Goat Moccasins, narrated in Salish, and features Salish singing by tribal students. The orchestra will play selections from the classical repertoire, including 'Spring' from Vivaldi's The Four Seasons, Mozart's Overture to The Magic Flute, 'Storm' from Rossini's William Tell Overture, and excerpts from Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 4 and Beethoven's Symphony No. 6, 'Pastorale.' The evening will conclude with a cultural exchange featuring Tribal Drumming and Dancing.

The event is the culmination of a two year pilot program funded in part by a grant from Getty Education and Community Investment. It is also funded by a grant from Community Strategies Fund at Inland Northwest Community Foundation.

This event is free and the public is invited to attend.
