Special Edition - Friday, March 4, 2016 Treasure! special presentation this Saturday at the MAC
The 'Treasure!' exhibit at the Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture features more than 1,000 treasures, from sunken ships to the museum's own collections. A new Antique Store has opened in the Treasure! exhibit, where you can see many items from the museum's collection that have never been on display before.
A special presentation will be given this Saturday, March 5 at 2 pm in the Eric A. Johnston Auditorium. This talk, led by exhibition designer Seth! Leary of NRG! Exhibits in Kirkland, WA, and lead curator for the museum's current traveling exhibition, Treasure!, takes place in the exhibit galleries. Seth! will discuss the background and development of the show, and will walk through the galleries, answering questions about the history and technology of treasure-hunting.
Cost: Suggested donation, $10
Limited attendance - 180 capacity, first-come, first-served.
In addition to hands-on treasure-hunting activities like gold panning and metal detecting, visitors can also see Nez Perce treasures in an Exhibition in Celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Nez Perce National Historical Park, and explore The Secret Life of an Artifact in a new Conservation Lab where museum staff catalog, restore and preserve museum artifacts.
