Goodbye to Legos. Hello to Treasure! at the Museum of Arts and Culture



This is the last weekend for the Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture's wildly popular Lego exhibit called 'Nature Connects: Lego Brick Sculptures.'

If you haven't seen the 28 giant nature-themed sculptures made from 500,000 Lego bricks by New York-based artist Sean Kenney, you're missing out! There's an eight-foot-tall hummingbird, a seven-foot-tall rose, and a life-size bison and calf made out of 61,371 Legos! The Lego exhibit runs through this Sunday, February 7, and includes 200 smaller Lego sculptures made by local folks, ages kindergarten through adult.

A new exhibit opened at the Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture on January 23 called 'Treasure!' which is the history and science of treasure-hunting. Treasure! explores underwater riches, buried treasure, gold rushes, treasure in the attic, and modern treasure hunts. 'Treasure!' runs until May 15.

Come this weekend to the Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture and you can see both the Lego and Treasure exhibits. The museums is open 10am to 5pm, Wednesdays through Sundays in Browne's Addition at 2316 W. First Avenue. Free parking in the museum's parking structure or on the street. Admission prices: Members (free), Adults: $10, Seniors: $7.50, Youth ages 6-18, $5, Students 18+ with ID: $5. $1 off for active duty or retired military and AAA members. Admission to the historic Campbell House is included in admission price.

Note: Starting on Tuesday, February 9, the museum will be open every Tuesday from 10am to 5pm, and every Tuesday will be half price! Adults: $5, Seniors (60+): $3.75, Children Ages 6-18: $2.50, College Students w/ID: $2.50, All active museum members and children 5 & under are free. Discount does not apply to school group visitation or group discounts. No other offer or discounts apply.

Spokane Arts Visual Arts Tour starts this First Friday

The City-wide arts tour will be this First Friday, February 5, and will run through Sunday, February 7. Over 40 venues are participating with countless artists and amazing artwork.

Spokane Boat Show at the Fairgrounds through Saturday

'T 4 2' at Trackside this Month

Trackside Studio Ceramic Art Gallery, 115 S. Adams Street, has a sweetheart of an exhibit featuring one-of-a-kind ceramic teapots, paired with cups, creamers and sugars this Valentine Month. The show, called 'T 4 2' runs February 5-26, with First Friday Receptions, this Friday, February 5 from 5-8pm and Saturday, February 6, noon-4pm.

Charlie Chaplin's 'City Lights' at the Fox



Charlie Chaplin's 1931 'comedy romance pantomime,' 'City Lights,' complete with Chaplin's original score, performed Live by the Spokane Symphony, will be shown on the big screen at Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox this Saturday, February 6 at 7:30pm.

'City Lights' follows the misadventures of Charlie Chaplin's iconic Little Tramp as he falls in love with a beautiful blind flower seller. It was ranked as the 11th greatest American film of all time by the American Film Institute.

Brad Paisley comes to the Arena Feb. 12



Country music superstar Brad Paisley is bringing his 'Crushin' It World Tour' to the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena on Friday, February 12 at 7:30pm. Paisley is a critically acclaimed singer, songwriter, guitarist and entertainer whose talents have earned him numerous awards, including three GRAMMYs, two American Music Awards, 14 Academy of Country Music Awards and 14 Country Music Association Awards (including Entertainer of the Year), among many others.

Hospice of Spokane to host 11th Annual Taste of Life

Bach is back Feb 23-March 6



The 38th Annual Northwest Bach Festival with Zuill Bailey, Artistic Director, will bring 12 days of musical excitement with concerts, films, Flash-Bach! appearances, special events and more. Starting on Wednesday, February 23 and running through Sunday, March 6 at a wide variety of Spokane venues.

The Festival concerts begin on Wednesday, February 24 at 7:30pm with a Festival Classics Concert, Bach XXI--Bach for the 21st Century, featuring the Matt Herskowitz Piano Jazz Trio with Zuill Bailey, cello, turning Barrister Winery, into a Bach Jazz Club. The Festival Classics will conclude with a grand Finale Concert in St. John's Cathedral, on Sunday, March 6 at 3pm.

The 18th Annual Spokane International Film Festival continues this week and runs through Saturday, February 6. Films will be shown at The Martin Woldson Theatre and The Fox, Magic Lantern Theatre, The Bing Crosby Theater, and AMC River Park Square 20, and there will be a special engagement at the Garland Theater in the Garland District.

Torn Felt - Felt Torn at Spokane Art School Gallery



Spokane Art School Gallery, 811 W. Garland Avenue, presents 'Torn Felt - Felt Torn', a show by the Artreach program at Crosswalk. There's an artists' reception this Friday, February 5 from 5-9pm with live music from Front Porch Trio. The show runs through March 26. Art School hours are Monday-Friday 10am-5pm and Saturday 10am-4pm.

The Spokane Art School provides quality fine arts instruction in the visual arts from professional artists in a variety of teaching environments. The Art School holds classes for children or adults, ranging from single-day workshops, multi-day workshops for more complicated projects and techniques and weekly classes in different disciplines such as painting and drawing.
