Wild Party starts Friday at Modern Theatre



This Friday, November 6 Modern Theatre of Spokane (formerly Interplayers) opens 'The Wild Party,' which runs through November 29. Get your tickets at themoderntheatre.org.

Symphony with a Splash this Friday with Robert Vaughn



Celebrate November's First Friday with the Spokane Symphony at 'Symphony With a Splash,' the hot, one of a kind concert experience that combines a casual Happy Hour - with live music by local jazz guitarist Robert Vaughn - and a shortened symphony performance into one really great party. Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox is THE place to be this Friday, November 6.

The fun starts at 5 pm in the incredible lobby of the theater, the Art Deco jewel of Spokane's vibrant entertainment district. Enjoy Happy Hour specials at the no-host bar while visiting with friends and listening to the mellow sounds of Vaughn's guitar. Beacon Hill Catering will be offering a selection of treats, along with a $12 Bistro Plate and $8 Sparkling Pear Martinis.

The action ramps up for the symphony program at 7 pm when Eckart Preu conducts the orchestra in a spectacular one-hour performance by Spokane's award-winning orchestra. Music selections range from the classic (Beethoven's Symphony No. 8) to the mind-bending (Frank Zappa's G-spot Tornado) to the West Coast Premiere of Harry Stafylakis' 'Arc of Horizon.' KYRS Anniversary and Silent Auction this Saturday

The KYRS 12th Anniversary Celebration & Silent Auction is this Saturday, November 7 at 7pm at the Cracker Co. Bldg. 304 W. Pacific. The event is sponsored by Planned Parenthood of Greater Washington and North Idaho.

There will be great auction items, live music by The Bobby Patterson Band (formerly The Fat Tones), and drinks and appetizers. Fine ale from Perry Street Brewing & River City Brewing and wine from Overbluff Cellars will be on hand. Kids 16 and under, free.


Half a million LEGOs are coming to the museum!



A fun new exhibit that will please LEGO fans, as well as art and nature lovers, opens on Saturday, November 14 at the Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture in Spokane's Browne's Addition. It's 'Nature Connects: LEGO Brick Sculpture,' featuring 27 giant nature-themed sculptures, using nearly half a million LEGOs. There's also a LEGO building contest. Live Music at Arbor Crest Wine Bar this Thursday & Friday

The Fireside Music Series continues at the Arbor Crest Tasting Room and Wine Bar. Due to demand from a very popular summer season, Arbor Crest will continue live music through the fall and winter and the wine bar is open daily from noon to 5pm all year round. Expanded food and beverages choices are available for purchase.

This Thursday, November 5, Spare Parts Duo will perform from 5:30-7:30, and on Friday, November 6, Isaac Walton is the guest musical artist. The wine bar will be open until 8pm both nights, no cover charge.

Wishing Star Dinner Banquet November 14

Wishing Star's 4th Annual Spokane Dinner Banquet will be held on Saturday, November 14 at the Mirabeau Park Hotel in Spokane Valley, starting at 5pm. The evening will include a cocktail hour, wine fridge raffle, live and silent auctions, wish family speeches and the dinner. This is a wonderful event to see the impact of Wishing Star's mission.

Spokane String Quartet Sunday Nov 15 at the Fox

The sounds of flute and piano join the strings of the Spokane String Quartet at a 3 pm concert Sunday, November 15, at the Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox. Guest artists for the concert are flutist Alaina Bercilla from the Spokane Symphony and pianist Roger McVey, who has performed around the world and is on the faculty at the University of Idaho. He was a top prizewinner in the International Beethoven Competition (USA), and was a semi-finalist at the International Franz Liszt Competition in Poland, where critics praised his 'passionate artistry and electrifying virtuosity.' Recent performances have taken him to China, Korea, Spain, and Italy, as well as New York, Minneapolis, and Atlanta.

The program includes String Quartet No. 18 in A Major by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Tientos for Flute and String Trio by contemporary composer Ian Krouse, and Trio in F for Flute, Cello and Piano by Bohuslav Martinu.

Alex Boye will perform live in Spokane at the INB Performing Arts Center on Monday, November 30. With nearly 200 million YouTube views, Alex Boye is Africanizing the pop music landscape, infusing the rhythms and various languages of his ancestral continent. Born from Nigerian parents, Boye grew up in London before coming to America. He recently made his debut at the world renowned Royal Albert Hall in London. His live show is a combination of American pop music with an African twist.

Variety Pak at Southside Community Center this Friday

The Friday Night Dances continue this Friday, November 6 at the Southside Senior & Community Center with Variety Pak, a longtime, local dance band, playing music from the 20s through the 80s, all great, danceable tunes. The evening runs from 7 to 9:30pm. Beer, wine and finger food will be available. Cost is $8 for members and students, $10 for non-members and you pay at the door. Southside Senior & Community Center is located at 3151 East 27th Ave on Spokane's south hill.

1st Biennial 'Ode to Bowls' at Trackside Studio

Trackside Studio Ceramic Art Gallery at 115 S. Adams presents 'Ode to Bowls', December 4 through January 15, 2016. Receptions will be held Friday, December 4, from 5-8 pm, Saturday, December 5 noon-4pm, and also on Saturday, December 19, noon-4.

Celebrate and toast the holidays with 'Ode to Bowls' an invitational exhibit of the ceramic bowl form, one-of-a-kind interpretations of a bowl, from tea bowl to punch bowl, functional or sculptural by 36 professional studio artists and educators of the ceramic arts. Artists were invited from all corners of the United States with bowls arriving in the Trackside Studio from Washington to Florida, Alaska to Texas, Oregon to Maine, created in low-fire, mid-range, high-fire, wood-soda-fired environments, hand-built, wheel-thrown, stamped, painted, carved, and cast form. Sales begin for this exhibit at 5 pm, December 4th during the opening reception at Trackside Studio Ceramic Art Gallery, 115 South Adams and online at 8 am, Saturday morning, December 5.
