MAC's ArtFest celebrates 30 years this Friday through Sunday!

This year's ArtFest, brought to you by our Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture celebrates their 30th Anniversary this Friday through Sunday, May 29-31 and marks Spokane's unofficial start of summer. Enjoy over 150 high-quality artists, three days of music, art demonstrations, food, the ever-popular kids' 'Make It Art' area, beer and wine garden, and fun for the whole family.

There will be 16 great musical acts over three days, from Irish and Latin to great blues. Friday's headliner at 8 pm is the Stacey Jones Band playing the blues; Saturday at 8 pm is Sammy Eubanks, voted 'Best Male Vocalist' in Washington ten times. He plays blues, country & rock; Sunday at 3:00 pm it's the hot Latin sound of Milonga.

New this year is a Silent Auction of Artist-Designed Birdhouses. Check out the amazing artist-designed birdhouses at the ArtFest Info. Booth. Among the many birdcages featured include artists Harold Balazs, Ric Gendron, Melissa Cole, Mel McCuddin, and many more. Silent auction ends at noon on Sunday. Children can assemble and design their own birdhouses in the Kids' Make It Art area. All proceeds of the auction support the programs of the MAC.

ArtFest will be in Spokane's Browne's Addition Park at 2nd & Hemlock, just west of downtown. Hours are Friday, 12 noon to 10 pm, Saturday, 10 am to 10 pm, and Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm. For more information, go to

The Eagles are landing at Spokane Arena Friday

'Boeing Boeing' gone on Sunday

Three musical performances this Friday at the Manito Park Bench Cafe

Enjoy two great hours of live music this Friday, May 29 starting at 6pm at the Park Bench Cafe in Spokane's Manito Park. Wyatt Wood performs acoustic guitar from 6-6:30, Maxie Ray Mills plays rock & blues from 6:45-7:15, and starting at 7:30, singer songwriter Darin Hilderbrand performs as Just Plain Darin. Concert is free admission, food and drinks including wine and beer available for purchase during the concert. The Park Bench Cafe is open Friday, Saturdays and Sundays from 9-5pm until June 15, then they open for regular business hours 7 days a week for the summer season. For Friday night concerts, the Cafe is open until 8pm.

This week's Music at Arbor Crest

This Thursday, May 28, for Performance on the Patio from 5:30-7:30, relax to the bluesy folk rock music of Pamela Benton & Claudia Gallagher. Vintage collage art by Shanda Woodward on display. Concert is free.

For the Arbor Crest Concerts of the Cliff, this Sunday, May 31 get into the spirit of Folkinception as they blend their rock 'n' roll flair to their folk-inspired music, from 5:30 to sunset, admission is $8. Arbor Crests' award winning wines are available for purchase. Visit for more information.

Fox Presents The Manhattan Transfer tomorrow night at 8

Fox Presents is bringing the legendary vocal band The Manhattan Transfer to Spokane tomorrow night, May 28 at 8 pm. Few groups have a more distinguished musical pedigree than The Manhattan Transfer, which is widely renowned for broadening the musical landscape with their innovative and genre-defying sound.

Upscale Sale this weekend to support the Spokane Symphony

This year's Upscale Sale, put on by the Spokane Symphony Associates, will be held this Friday through Sunday. Sale dates are Friday, May 29 & Saturday, May 30 from 8am-6pm; and Sunday, May 31 from 10am-5pm. There will be a preview sale this Thursday, May 28 from 5-7pm. Admission is $5. Whitesnake at Northern Quest tomorrow night

Whitesnake, the legendary rock'n'roll band founded and formed by Deep Purple singer David Coverdale, brings their 2015 'The Purple Tour' featuring their biggest hits from the new tribute album, to Northern Quest tomorrow night, May 28 at 7:30. Go to for tickets and information.

Marilyn Lysohir and Shani Marchant show at GU's Jundt

The Jundt Art Museum at Gonzaga University continues its summer 'Close In' series featuring the work of regional artists Marilyn Lysohir, from Moscow, Idaho, and Shani Marchant, Spokane. The exhibition, 'Close In: Marilyn Lysohir and Shani Marchant: Between Two Worlds,' organized by Curator of Education Karen Kaiser, opens Saturday, May 30 and continues through Sept. 12.

An evening with the artists begins with a lecture at 5 pm this Friday, May 29 in the Jundt Auditorium, followed by public preview reception until 8 pm.

The museum's exhibitions are free and open to the public from 10 am - 4 pm, Monday through Saturday; closed Sundays and University holidays. Listen to the sounds of Bach this Sunday at St. John's Cathedral

This Sunday, May 31 at 3pm at the Cathedral of St John the Evangelist, St John's Music Series presents 'The Joy of Bach' featuring two choral works and a Brandenburg Concerto, all celebrating the music of Johann Sebastian Bach. The concert is free, however, a suggested donation of $10 will be gratefully accepted.

Drive in movies return to Spokane!

A new, state-of-the-art drive-in outdoor movie theater is coming to Spokane this summer to entertain a new generation. The Family Guide and FunFlicks Outdoor Movie Events, the largest outdoor (and indoor) movie event provider in the state, brings back all the fun and nostalgia of the classic drive-in movie experience with modern day technology.

Movie-goers will not have to worry about small sound boxes placed awkwardly on one side of the car, because the movies will be simulcast over FM radio and broadcasted through state of the art 'outdoor' speakers. The movies will be shown on a 55 foot screen, nearly as tall as a 4 story building.

There are 2 great locations this summer for you to load up the car, van or truck and head out to the drive-in movie under the stars. Tuesdays: 4307 E.
