The Spokane Symphony goes to the Movies this Saturday night



The Spokane Symphony, with conductor Morihiko Nakahara, has a special concert from their SuperPops series, Movie Music Spectacular, this Saturday night, January 31 from 8-10pm. This concert will feature musical scores from some of cinema's most famous films, some modern, and others all-time genre classics. Films such as 'Gone With the Wind,' 'Star Wars,' 'Harry Potter' and many more smash hits and favorite movie themes. Abbey Crawford will also perform vocals for the theme song from 'Skyfall'. The concert will be held at the Martin Woldson Theater at the Fox.

This evening's event features an extra treat - the second SpIFF Posterize event! The 17th Annual Spokane International Film Festival and the Spokane Symphony are partnering to celebrate the art surrounding film by launching SpIFF's Posterize. For Posterize, artists from Spokane's local design community will create movie posters of upcoming SpIFF films and also for some of the blockbusters to be performed by the symphony. The posters will be on display in the Fox lobby before and after the concert, and during intermission. SpIFF will take place February 5 - 14. More details on SpIFF next week!


'Jesus Christ Superstar' is coming to GU

Modern theatre Spokane presents 'Reasons to be Pretty'

Foghat at Northern Quest Feb 6



Formed in London, rock band Foghat took the United States by storm when they released their debut album in 1972. Their unique mix of blues and rock, or 'boogie rock,' has continued to enjoy frequent airplay on classic rock stations, and in the 70s, you couldn't escape their ubiquitous hits. With several gold records and a double platinum album, it's no surprise why this incredible rock band is still touring and bringing their music to fans all over. KPBX 2015 Recordings & Videos Sale

KPBX, Spokane Public Radio's 2015 Recordings & Videos Sale will be on Saturday, February 21 from 9am to 5pm and Sunday, February 22 from 11am to 5pm at The Lincoln Center, 1316 N Lincoln. You'll have an opportunity to shop through thousands of CDs, DVDs, records, & videos in dozens of genres. Each day also features a silent auction of classic equipment and a few rare recordings. Donation Day for the Used Recordings & Videos sale is Saturday, February 7, from 10am to 2pm at Spokane Public Radio, 2319 N Monroe. Donate your gently-used records, CDs, and DVDs. Spokane Public Radio staff and volunteers will be there to help you unload your albums and provide refreshments plus tours of the station and studios.

Record number of restaurants in this year's Inlander Restaurant Week

Restaurants from Spokane to Coeur d'Alene, Spokane Valley to Airway Heights make up the record number of 97 participants in Inlander Restaurant Week 2015.

The special Restaurant Week menus will be unveiled today at the Inlander Restaurant Week Kickoff Party, 4-7pm at The Lincoln Center, 1316 N. Lincoln Street. The menus will be available online for public viewing on Thursday, January 29.

Inlander Restaurant Week, February 20 - March 1, features set-price, three-course menu offerings. Participating restaurants offer their special menus at either an $18 or $28 price level. Diners are welcome to choose the special Restaurant Week menu offerings or anything from a restaurant's regular menu.

In addition to the 97 participating restaurants, at least 12 Drink Local participants will be taking part in Restaurant Week. Drink Local focuses on featuring Spokane-region wines, craft beers, spirits and hard ciders with many of the restaurant menus.

Restaurant Week first debuted in the Inland Northwest in 2013. After the inaugural 53 participants, 74 restaurants participated in 2014. This year's 97 participants is an 83% increase from 2013.
