Hot Club of Spokane begins recording project to celebrate local music icons

Can you name a Bing Crosby tune that's NOT a Christmas tune? No worries, a lot of people couldn't. Local band Hot Club of Spokane is putting together an album of over a dozen songs that celebrate Spokane's incredible music heritage, focusing on the music of Bing Crosby, Mildred Bailey, and Al Rinker. For instance, did you know that Al Rinker composed 'Everybody Wants to Be A Cat' from Disney's 1970 animated film 'The Aristocats'? Al grew up in Spokane! He was a student at North Central High School in the 1920s.

Pre-order the CD and you'll help local musicians stay in business, and you'll receive great music that will make you proud of your local music scene today and Spokane's music heritage of yesteryear.

As a special thank you for helping Hot Club of Spokane complete this project, they have recorded five Christmas songs that you can download immediately for free, including their own version of 'White Christmas,' and a fun rendition of 'Christmas Night in Hillyard,' a tribute to Spokane's historic northeast neighborhood.

Other rewards for kickstarting this important music project include tickets to the CD Release party at the Bing Crosby Theater, to be held on May 2, 2015, just one day before Bing's birthday. The event will feature live performances of the music on the album plus multimedia presentations (including vintage video and audio) that will give you a peek into the early lives of Bing, Mildred, and Al.

Learn more, pre-order the album and tickets to the CD Release party, and watch a quick, comical video of people trying to name Bing Crosby, Mildred Bailey, and Al Rinker songs at Hot Club of Spokane's Kickstarter Page. www.kickstarter.com/projects/hotclubofspokane/hot-club-of-spokanes-cd-celebrates-bing-mildred-an.
