Sergio Mendes performs with Spokane Symphony Nov 1



Sergio Mendes, legendary for bringing Bossa Nova to the U.S. nearly five decades ago with his Brazilian-born fusion of jazz, samba, funk and pop, will perform with the Spokane Symphony Saturday, Nov. 1 at 8 p.m. at Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox. Together, they will recreate some of Mendes' favorite hits, including "Girl from Ipanema," "Tristeza" and "Never Gonna Let You Go."

The Brazilian pianist, composer, arranger, and bandleader is still making his mark on music, and His new album, Magic, includes collaborations with will.i.am, the freshman3 and Cody Wise.

Nectar Tasting Room Hosts Improv Comedy Night

The Nectar Tasting Room at Main and Stevens, welcomes the Lilac City Improv Troop for comedy night on Saturday, November 1. Doors open at 6:30 and the show starts at 7:00. The comedy troop's blend of audience interaction and improv sketches will have attendees laughing all night long.

Calling all chocolate lovers!



Encore Events will host "Decadence! the Spokane Chocolate Festival," Friday, November 7th, from Noon to 9pm at the Red Lion Hotel at the Park. "Decadence"! features chocolate indulgences (both sweet and savory), live music by Cary Fly and a Chocolate Martini competition. All proceeds from the event benefit Inland NW Baby, the only diaper bank serving eastern Washington.

Northwest Taste, a Food and Beverage Show, debuts next weekend, November 8 and 9, and pulls specialty food exhibitors from Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Montana. Guests will be surrounded by bakeries, chocolates, jams, sauces, oils, coffees, spices, nuts, gluten free products and many more. Along with food sampling throughout the show, consumers can see over 20 instructors on4 different stages, including local favorites, and nationally recognized, Chef LJ Klink.

Wine, craft beer, cider and spirit sampling happens in The Grand Tasting Pavilion as well as instruction on pairings, including caviar and chocolates! The VIP After Party is two hours of sampling, hors d'oeuvres and premium products. Instruction in The Culinary Classroom includes 2 Gluten Free classes, making chocolate truffles, canning jam, creating an Italian street salad and even a class with Chef LJ Klink.
