The Art Spirit Gallery at 415 Sherman in downtown Coeur d'Alene presents an opening reception of 'The Impossible Landscape' from 5-8 this Friday, October 10. Meet artist Timothy Ely and check out 30 of his latest works. It will be 2nd Friday ArtWalk, so you can also enjoy a lively evening of fine art, fine dining and good friends in downtown Coeur d'Alene.

Timothy Ely will give an informal talk about his work starting at 1:00 in the gallery on Saturday, October 11.

Art in the Making Saturday in Coeur d'Alene Plaza Shops atrium

Watch 13 regional artists draw, paint, and sculpt from two live models this Saturday, October 11 1:00 to 4:00 pm, in the atrium at the Coeur d'Alene Plaza Shops at 210 Sherman Avenue.

Stroke by stroke, piece by piece, watch as art unfolds in front of your very eyes. The thought, the pause, the shifting, the thinking, everything that goes into the creation of a true piece of art - that is what 'Art in the Making' is all about.

Sponsored by The Art Spirit Gallery, this is approximately the 30th time in the last fourteen years that they have put on this popular community event. Designed to help promote art through public demonstration, all visual artists and musicians are invited as volunteers, anxious to share their enthusiasm for art.

Gonzaga Symphony Orchestra performs Oct 13 at the Fox

On Monday, October 13, 7:30pm, join the Gonzaga Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Kevin Hekmatpanah for a performance that includes Beethoven's Violin Concerto in D Major with guest violinist Kurt Nikkanen. The program also features Rossini's Overture to Semiramide, Khachaturian's Masquerade Waltz and Berlioz's Roman Carnival Overture.

'Citizen Koch' film at the Bing October 21 benefitting Meals on Wheels



Citizen Koch, a film by the Academy Award nominated directors Carl Deal and Tia Lessin (Trouble the Water) looks at the state of democracy in America, and examines the impact of the Supreme Court's Citizens United ruling, which unleashed a torrent of unlimited, anonymous political spending by corporations and billionaires that fundamentally changed the way our democracy works. Citizen Koch is an essential and powerful portrait of our political times.

Citizen Koch will be shown at the Bing Crosby Theater, 901 W Sprague on Tuesday, October 21 at 6pm. There will be a Q&A panel/audience discussion after the film. $10 suggested donation. All net proceeds to benefit Meals on Wheels Spokane.

Pianist Joyce Yang with the Spokane Symphony

Spokane Public Radio presents Dr. Zorba Paster at the Bing October 9



Spokane Public Radio presents 'America's Favorite Family Doc,' Zorba Paster, tomorrow night, October 9, 7 pm at the Bing Crosby Theater. A practicing family physician and longtime public radio host, Paster will take health questions from the audience in a session moderated by SPR Program Director, Verne Windham. Paster will begin the evening with advice from his book, The Longevity Code: Your Personal Prescription for a Longer, Sweeter Life, and will meet audience members for a book signing after his presentation.

Each week, Paster and co-host Tom Clark discuss healthy living, fitness tips, and the week's healthy recipe choice, as well as new developments in the healthcare world, on their nationally syndicated show, 'Zorba Paster On Your Health,' produced by Wisconsin Public Radio.

Harlem Globetrotters return Spokane Arena February 2015



The world famous Harlem Globetrotters will bring their exciting family show to Spokane Arena on Tuesday, February 17 as part of their 'Washington Generals' Revenge' Tour, and tickets are on sale now.

As part of the show, the Globetrotters, known worldwide as the Ambassadors of Goodwill, will honor a Harlem Globetrotters Hometown Hero at each of their 310-plus games in North America. The team is searching for active, wounded or retired members of the military who have made their community proud with their brave service and exemplary character. Fans can nominate a Harlem Globetrotters Hometown Hero at www.harlemglobetrotters.com. The Globetrotters will also play a portion of each game with a camouflage basketball as a sign of respect to all who protect our freedom.
