WestCoast Entertainment announces National Geographic Live!



A four-part event series from National Geographic Live! begins this fall, and features award-winning photographers, filmmakers, scientists, and explorers, live at the INB Performing Arts Center. The presenters will take audiences on explorations from Antarctica to Mars, and introduce them to remarkable creatures, from biting seals to flesh-eating pigs.

Here's the lineup:
Tuesday, October 7 - Coral Kingdoms and Empires of Ice featuring David Doubilet, Underwater Photographer and Jennifer Hayes, Aquatic Biologist and Photojournalist

Tuesday, November 4 - Exploring the Red Planet featuring Kobie Boykins, NASA Engineer

Tuesday, February 24, 2015 - Grizzlies, Piranhas and Man-Eating Pigs featuring Joel Sartore, Photographer

Tuesday, April 21, 2015 - Untamed Antartica featuring MIke Libecki, Climber & Explorer and Cory Richards, Climber & Photographer

Annual Women's Weekend Fundraising Event for Girl Scouts at Lake Coeur d'Alene Sept 5-7



It's time to rally your girlfriends, sisters, mothers and co-workers for the annual Women's Weekend fundraising event, benefitting Girl Scouts Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho, September 5-7 at Camp Four Echoes at Lake Coeur d'Alene. All your senses will be rejuvenated with pristine lake views, delicious cuisine, wine, spa treatments, time on the water and intriguing conversations. Massages, canoeing, stand up paddle-boarding, canvas painting, ropes course, numerology and soul oracle reading, yoga, hiking, wine tasting and much more. You can try to do it all or just bring a book and relax on the shore. Throughout the weekend you have the opportunity to bid on amazing silent auction items.

Cost is $225 and includes a swag bag valued at $125, lodging, catered meals, wine, beer and nonalcoholic beverages and many activities. Guests must be female and 21 or older to attend. Women's Weekend is an annual Girl Scout fundraising event that supports scholarships, camperships and program for girls. Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place. This event is held at Camp Four Echoes, the beautiful 212 acre Windy Bay Girl Scout lakefront camp at Lake Coeur d'Alene.

D. Lish's Hamburgers to donate 20% of Thursday sales to 'Play For Gracie Fund'



This Thursday, August 7, from 10:30 am to 9 pm, D. Lish's Hamburgers at 1625 North Division is doing a fund- raiser, donating 20% of their daily total sales going to the 'Play For Gracie Fund'.

Gracie Snider was a 10 year old Spokane girl who played soccer for the Spokane Foxes and passed away in a car accident on 5/3/14. Her family has set up the 'Play for Gracie Fund' with donations going towards setting up a scholarship fund for kids who desire to play soccer, but can't afford the costs. So stop by D. Lish's Hamburgers TOMORROW for great food and to donate to a great cause!

This Friday, August 8 from 6-8pm, the Manito Park Bench Cafe continues its free Friday Summer concert series. Great food and beverages available for purchase.

Kendall Yards Rocks the Nest Concert Series continues Wednesdays this month



Rock the Nest Concert Series at Kendall Yards will feature live music tonight, August 6 starting at 7pm, with Silver Treason. Upcoming concerts this month are:

Wines by the Yards this Thursday at The Nest at Kendall Yards features Spokane Wineries

The Spokane Winery Association will be hosting Wines by the Yards, a wine tasting event, this Thursday, August 7 at 5:30 pm at The Nest at Kendall Yards. The event will feature over 30 wines, and food. Attendees will enjoy an evening of wine tasting and light hors d'oeuvres in a beautiful outdoor setting next to the Spokane River.

Limited tickets are available for purchase at spokanewineries.net. The cost is $40 per ticket or $75 for two tickets.

Mama Doll this Saturday at the Bartlett

This Saturday, August 9 at 8pm, Mama Doll will perform from their new album. Next Wednesday, August 13, Mandolin Orange will perform.

Free concert Thursday at Audubon Park

Spokane's Men of Rhythm will be playing a free concert Thursday, August 7 in Audubon Park in northwest Spokane from 6:30 - 8:30pm. This is the last free summer concert of the season in Audubon Park, so pack your picnic and head over for some great music.

Little Spokane River Shuttle Service Saturdays this Month

The City of Spokane Parks & Recreation will have shuttle service for ages eight and older and provide you and your canoe or kayak transportation from the 9 Mile take-out of the Little Spokane River, to the put-in at St. George's.

The Shuttle runs hourly from 10am to 4pm. Pre-register for the specific day you want. You can show up anytime throughout the day. Seats are first come first serve. If you miss a shuttle you will be able to catch the next one.

No inner tubes, rafts, dogs or alcohol allowed. Life Jackets required for all. Under 18 parent must accompany child. Discover Parking Pass required for your vehicle. Cost is $8 per person, one way.

A Full Day of Fun on a Pend Oreille Lake Cruise & the Bird Aviation Museum

On Wednesday, August 27, enjoy a great day on a Pend Oreille Lake Cruise with a visit to the Bird Aviation Museum. Board a motor coach for the Bird Aviation Museum and Invention Center and then attend a hosted picnic at the Sandpoint City Beach. After lunch learn about the geology and history of Lake Pend Oreille aboard a vintage ferry. Cost is $49 all inclusive.

The group will meet and depart from the Southside Senior & Community Center at 8am, and return at 5pm.
