Everest Mountaineer Kay LeClaire's book signing at Aunties Saturday




Spokane's Kay LeClaire is a member of a very elite 'club'. She has summited the major peak on each of the seven continents, including Mount Everest, and she was the first woman over age sixty to do so. Her book written with Mary Cronk Farrell, 'Journey to the Top of the World,' is appropriate for readers 5th grade to adult. Kay wants to let people know that it is never too late to have a dream. It is also a book to introduce young readers into the experience of mountaineering.

Christmas Tree Elegance continues through this weekend

Through this weekend, two of Spokane's outstanding destinations, the historic Davenport Hotel and River Park Square, will host the 31st Annual Christmas Tree Elegance, a raffle of 18 themed custom-decorated trees with prizes which include gift certificates, items and cash valued at $5,000 each. Twelve decorated trees will grace the mezzanine of the historic Davenport Hotel while six holiday trees will line the second floor corridor at River Park Square.

Abbey Crawford and Friends Holiday Cabaret

Great music for the holidays with the Spokane Symphony

This year's Holiday Pops with holiday memories set to some of the most joyous music ever composed. Morihiko Nakahara conducts the Spokane Symphony, joined by the vocal talents of the Spokane Symphony Chorale and the Spokane Area Youth Choirs, and will create holiday magic with wonderful festive music. The perfect mix of traditional holiday favorites and a few surprises will come to the stage of Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox on Saturday, December 21 at 8pm and again on Sunday, December 22 at 2 pm. Ring in the New Year with the Spokane Symphony

On New Years Eve, join the Spokane Symphony for two special events. First, celebrate with the joyful music of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. This is a holiday favorite around the globe. Music Director Eckart Preu will conduct the Spokane Symphony Orchestra and the Spokane Symphony Chorale on Tuesday, December 31 at 7:30 pm at Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox. And for those who are looking for something that will take them through to midnight, there is the Puttin' On The RITZ Ball at the Davenport Hotel. Enjoy an evening of dancing to the sounds of The Master Class Jazz Orchestra. The festivities start at 9pm and continue until 12:30am. Includes hors d'oeuvres and a Champagne toast at midnight. Spokane's 'Little Big Star' to sign autographs




Sophia Anne Caruso will be at Finders Keepers, 309 West 2nd, Saturday, December 21 signing autographs. Don't miss your chance to see Spokane's own up and coming 'Little Big' star. The first airing of 'The Sound of Music' Live on NBC drew over 22 million viewers. This Saturday, NBC will once again be alive with the sound of music. According to Variety, the network will re-air the Dec. 5 three-hour live musical event, starring Carrie Underwood, this Saturday, December 14 at 5 pm PST on Q6.

Holiday Lights at Manito Park's Gaiser Conservatory




Join the Friends of Manito for their Open House this Saturday, December 14 & Sunday, December 15, from 4:30 to 7:30 pm at the Manito Meeting Room in Manito Park, next to the Gaiser Conservatory.

The Conservatory will have their elegant holiday lights display, which runs from this Friday, December 13 through Sunday, December 22. See beautiful displays with thousands of lights along with beautiful plants and flowers. Conservatory hours are 8:00 am to 7:30 pm. Best viewing is after 4:00 pm. Crowds are smaller during the weekday evenings. This is free and open to the public.

The Christmas Schooner at the Civic Theatre

This holiday musical, based on the book by John Reeger, with Music & Lyrics by Julie Shannon continues at the Spokane Civic Theatre through Sunday, December 22.

This new holiday family musical follows the Christmas tree's perilous journey into America's homes and traditions. Notable musical numbers include: 'We All Have Songs,' 'Pass It On' and 'Hardwater Sailors.' Directed by Scott Doughty and Music Direction by Janet Robel. Adam Hegsted opening two new restaurants

Adam Hegsted, the executive chef of Coeur d'Alene Casino Resort, has announced he is opening two new restaurants in Spokane, next door to each other at Kendall Yards.

One will be called Yards Bruncheon, which will open in February serving brunch seven days a week. The other named The Wandering Table, serving American-style tapas made with wood-fired grills and ovens, will open in April.

Santa Claus is coming to Avista Stadium!

The Spokane Indians Baseball Club is excited to announce that Santa Claus is coming to Avista Stadium. With the aid of his helper, OTTO the Mascot, Santa will be parking the sleigh on Tuesday, December 17 and Thursday, December 19, between 4-6 pm at the Spokane Indians Team Store. Kids of all ages are invited to attend and share their Christmas wishes with Santa and OTTO. There will be free candy canes and hot chocolate for all who attend. Photos will be uploaded to the Spokane Indians FlickR account, and distributed online for free.

Spokane Chiefs' Teddy Bear Toss this Saturday night




Bring a teddy bear to the Spokane Chiefs game, this Saturday night at 7:05 in the Spokane Arena. Then toss it onto the ice when the Chiefs score their first goal. All the bears will go to the Spokesman Review Christmas Fund. Call 509-535-PUCK for your seats.

Sammy Eubanks to Sign Recording Contract with Mission Control Records

One of the most pure vocalists in the Pacific Northwest and a sensational guitarist and songwriter too, National touring artist Sammy Eubanks will be signing a recording contract with Mission Control Records at his Knitting Factory show on Saturday, December 21. Sammy was one of the founders of Spokane's Inland Empire Blues Society and as a musician he has reaped much accolade, including multiple wins as best male vocalists with both the Inland Empire and Washington Blues Society. He is a Hall of Fame member with the Inland Empire Blues Society and also represented the Washington Blues Society at the International Blues Challenge in 2013, where the band made the semi-finals.

Sammy is the newest artist joining the Mission Control Records roster, a new label based in Spokane. Unlike traditional record labels, the primary focus of Mission Control is to promote music to the Film and Television industry. Sammy first recorded with Mission Control last winter during the production of the compilation CD 'In Your Honor', that sold over 2,000 copies in 2 months and raised more than $24,000 for the Inland Northwest Honor Flight Charity.
