Art & Glass Fest at Arbor Crest this weekend

Enjoy a weekend of art, music and wine at this year's Art & Glass Fest at Arbor Crest Wine cellars this Saturday, August 17 & Sunday, August 18 from 11am to 6pm both days.

The Arbor Crest Art & Glass Fest in an annual event that brings together over 50 arts & crafts vendors from around the Inland Northwest to display and sell their original works. The event features glasswork, metalwork, paintings, jewelry and other unique craft items. Saturday will feature a free concert with Miss Abbey & the Hot Five, starting at 1pm.

Admission is free for the Art & Glass Fest, but there is a $5 fee for the Sunday concert featuring The Sara Brown Band, starting at 5:30pm. Wine and food available for purchase.

Goodguys 12th Great Northwest Nationals this weekend

The Goodguys Rod & Custom Car Show will be at the Spokane Interstate Fairgrounds, 404 N Havana this Friday, Saturday & Sunday, August 16-18, located in Bays 1, 2, 3 and the Main Lawn.

The show features over 1,500 Hot Rods, Customs, Classics, Muscle Cars and Trucks thru '72, vendor & manufacturing exhibits, swap meet, AutoTrader Classics Cars 4 Sale Corral, Model & Pedal car show, live entertainment, free kids entertainment, activities for the kids and more.

Hours are 8am to 5pm Friday & Saturday; 8am to 3pm Sunday. Admission is $15 for adults (13+); $6 for kids 7-12; and ages 6 and under free.

Coeur d'Alene Diamond Cup Coming Labor Day Weekend




The Diamond Cup and H1 Unlimited Hydroplane racing will be returning to Lake Coeur d'Alene this Labor Day Weekend, Friday, August 30 through Sunday, September 1 after a forty-five year hiatus. The race will take place around Silver Beach in what is one of the fastest race courses H1 has to offer.

Coco Montoya coming to Chateau Rive

Local Pools Offering Free Admission

Grab your swimsuit for Taco Bell's swim free day! On Monday, August 19, City of Spokane Public Pools will offer free admission to all visitors, courtesy of the local Taco Bell restaurants. Six pools throughout the city of Spokane will be participating, including: Witter Aquatic Center, A.M. Cannon Aquatic Center, Shadle Aquatic Center, Hillyard Aquatic Center, Comstock Aquatic Center, and Liberty Aquatic Center. Swim Free Day is made possible by Spokane's local Taco Bell restaurants.

Salvation Army to hand out 4,000 Backpacks

The Salvation Army's annual Backpacks For Kids Distribution & Resource Fair will take place this Friday, August 16 at the Salvation Army Community Center, 222 E Indiana Avenue. Doors open at 8am and will close at 7pm. If the backpacks supply is depleted, the event will close early. Backpacks are distributed on a first come, first served basis.

The need for basic school supplies is so great that it has increased dramatically over the years. Last year, The Salvation Army handed out 3,749 backpacks filled with supplies. This year, the organization anticipates handing out 4,000 backpacks with supplies required by the school district by grade level.

The Resource Fair is also free and open to the public. Vendors will be offering free glucose, blood pressure and health screenings, free dental care items, financial education tools, free ID cards for children, and a free book to the first 1,000 children through the doors. Photo ID of parent, ID for child (Medical ID card, etc) and Proof of Address (ex-Avista bill) is needed. This is sponsored By Cenex Zip Trip & Molina Healthcare.

There will be a check presentation for $25,000 from Cenex Zip Trip to the Salvation Army at 7:45am, just prior to the opening of the event. These funds go directly to the Backpacks For Kids Campaign.
