Tonight is the Symphony's Soiree on the Edge at Arbor Crest

During the second Soiree on the Edge tonight at 7, the Spokane Symphony will serenade you with an exciting blend of music by contemporary and traditional composers, ending with selections from Beethoven's Symphony No. 6. Enjoy a picnic and the sunset on the lawn of the beautiful Arbor Crest Wine Cellars. There are a limited number of table seats inside the tent and plenty of lawn seating is available. Listeners may also bring blankets or lawn chairs. Arbor Crest wine and picnic fare is available for purchase.

This is a 21 and over event presented in partnership with Arbor Crest Wine Cellars.

Kathleen Cavender performs at Chateau Rive Friday



Singer Kathleen Cavender and her band will perform at Chateau Rive, the new event center on the first level of the Flour Mill, this Friday from 6:30 until dark, performing a variety of classics, soul, cabaret and swing tunes.


Pianist Lang Lang on the big screen at the Fox tomorrow



Don't miss this opportunity to hear the Mendelssohn Gala featuring superstar pianist Lang Lang, tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. He performs with the Gewandhaus Orchester Leipzig, the symphony orchestra that was once under the direction of Mendelssohn himself, conducted by Riccardo Chailly. This outstanding performance will be presented on the big screen this summer through the Specticast Digital Theatre Network as part of HD Thursdays. Tickets are $10 at the door.

SPR presents "An Evening Under the Stars" at Arbor Crest tomorrow night



On the first full moon in August, at Arbor Crest, Spokane Public Radio presents their annual gala fundraiser, An Evening Under the Stars, with a buffet feast by Catered for You, dinner music with Paul Grove and dancing to Diminishing Faculties. Modern40, a ten-course, forty-plate dinner at Sante Restaurant and Charcuterie

Modern40, a ten-course dinner created by chef Jeremy L. Hansen of Sante Restaurant and Charcuterie will be on two evenings, Friday, August 17th and Saturday, August 18th. The unique event will showcase ten culinary concepts, with each course represented four different ways (40 tastes total), will showcase the talent and refined techniques of chef Hansen while raising funds for two local non-profit organizations, Spokane Riverkeeper and The Big Table. Roller Derby: Spokannibals vs Cherry City Derby Girls Saturday August 11

Enjoy flat track roller derby at its finest! Witness the live, untamed, roller derby feeding frenzy when the Spokannibals take on Salem, Oregon's Cherry City Derby Girls. Cherry City will be sending their travel team, the 8 Wheel Assassins.

The Spokannibals will unleash their fury at 7 pm, Saturday, August 11. The bout will be held at Roller Valley Skate Center, 9415 E. 4th in Spokane Valley. Doors open at 6:30.

ClayFox School pottery classes

The summer session of pottery classes are continuing at the ClayFox Clay School with professional potter Jill Smith. A one session, 3 hour, "Just Try It!" class is for people who want to try the potter's wheel, have fun and get muddy. If the fast turning potter's wheel just seems to wild, there are one session hand building classes offered also. In these classes the participants create clay pieces using slabs of clay from the slab roller.

Classes are limited to 5 people in a session and held in a professional potter's studio nestled in a pretty setting in the Little Spokane River valley.
