Experience Myth Busters' 'fantastical evening' Friday at the INB




MythBusters is hitting the road and testing their urban myths in front of a live audience at the INB Performing Arts Center for a-once-in-a-lifetime viewing opportunity this Friday, January 20 at 8 pm. Adam Savage & Jamie Hyneman: Behind the Myths Tour, is an all-new, live show featuring Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage, co-hosts of the Emmy-nominated Discovery series, MythBusters.

Adam Savage & Jamie Hyneman: Behind the Myths Tour promises to be a fantastical evening of on-stage experiments, audience participation, video of the explosions featured on the television show and behind-the-scenes stories. For the first time ever, fans will join Jamie and Adam on stage and assist in their mind-blowing and mind-twisting approach to science.

One of the Discovery Channel's most highly regarded and watched series, MythBusters is now in its ninth season. Co-hosted by Jamie and Adam, MythBusters mixes scientific method with gleeful curiosity and plain old-fashioned ingenuity to create its own signature style of explosive experimentation.

Both Jamie and Adam have backgrounds in special effects and production. Jamie owns M5 Industries which produces effects specializing in problematic custom builds. M5 Industries serves as the headquarters for MythBusters. Adam has worked on dozens of commercials building special effects for Sega, Coca-Cola, Nike, Burger King and Chevrolet. Adam also worked with George Lucas' Industrial Light and Magic firm where he worked on Star Wars: Episodes 1 & 2, Galaxy Quest, Space Cowboys, A.I., Terminator 3, The Mummy and dozens of commercials.

Nickelback is coming back!

Hailed as Billboard Magazine's Group of the Decade in 2010, Nickelback will return to the Spokane Arena on Sunday, June 24 in their first North American Tour in two years. Nickelback will be joined on tour by Bush, Seether and My Darkest Days. Tickets are on sale this Saturday, January 21.

As one of the biggest rock bands of the 21st Century, Nickelback has achieved a prestigious place in music history having sold nearly 45 million albums worldwide. Since their 2001 breakthrough hit song 'How You Remind Me,' Nickelback has sent 20 singles rocketing onto various Billboard charts. In 2009, Billboard Magazine also named Nickelback 'Top Group of the Decade.'

Their now classic album, All the Right Reasons, insured Nickelback an indelible place in rock history, having spent a staggering 112 weeks in the Top 30 of the Billboard Top 200, certified eight-times platinum in the US and having sold more than 11 million copies worldwide. Comedian Nick Theisen stands up.

Enjoy some great laughs every Thursday at 8pm at Comedy Open Mike night, upstairs at Uncle D's Comedy Underground in Bluz at the Bend, North 2721 Market Street. Usually a dozen up-and-coming young (and some not so young) comedians, both male and female, take to the stage to entertain you with their stand up comedy. It's a lot of fun for the crowd and for the comedians. If laughter is the best medicine, this is intensive care. Maybe you'd like to stand up. Sign-up starts at 7:00pm every Thursday. You tell a good joke, everyone thinks you are funny. Practice performing, on stage, with the light in your eyes in Uncle D's showroom. Performer, club, and agency owner Don Parkins provides coaching. The Winter Winemaker Dinner at the Lincoln Center

Chateau St Michelle and Three Rivers Winery present 'Cuvee of Columbia Valley' for the Winter Winemaker Dinner at The Lincoln Center on Friday, January 27.

A champagne social at 6:00 pm will open the evening. A 2005 Chateau Ste. Michelle 'Luxe' sparkling wine will accompany the first course of Salad en Croute. The second course is a savory lobster crepe accompanied by a 2009 Three Rivers Chardonnay. Next on the menu is Haricots Verts and Maytag Bleu Cheese Beef Tenderloin wraps presented with 2008 Three Rivers Merlot. RV Show & Sale starts this Thursday

The 24th Annual Inland Northwest RV Show and Sale is this Thursday, January 19 through Sunday, January 22 at the Spokane County Fair and Expo Center. The Alexander Technique at Holy Names Music Center

William Conable will offer an introductory workshop on the Alexander Technique Saturday, January 28th from 10-12 at Holy Names Music Center, 3910 W. Custer Drive. Admission is $10. All are welcome.

The Alexander Technique is a simple and practical method for improving ease and freedom of movement, balance, support, flexibility, and coordination. It enhances performance and is therefore a valued tool for actors, dancers, and musicians. However, since movement is part of everybody's daily life, it is useful for everyone. For those who experience discomfort, pain, or difficulty in daily activities because of misuses of the body, the Alexander Technique frequently brings relief.

William Conable is an internationally renowned teacher of the Alexander Technique and an active cellist and conductor. He has been teaching classes at HNMC for the past three years. This Winter classes will be offered on Monday evenings beginning January 30th. For the beginner classes will start at 7:30 and for the more experienced student classes will start at 8:30. $150 for 10 weeks.
